project name

CLIENT Street Kitchen
SIZE 120 m2
YEAR 2011

Street Kitchen's base in TESTBED1, Battersea, included a large commercial kitchen, geared to serving thousands of lunches each day, loaded into airstream caravans and transported into central London. The company's vision is modern British cuisine made from local organic produce and eventually aim to grow vegetables and keep bees on the roof of TESTBED1.

A unique hatch was designed to protrude from beneath a stairway to serve simple and healthy bistro style dishes into the TESTBED1 courtyard space. Clad in chequerplate aluminium, the front pivoted open at lunchtimes, and visitors could enjoy lunch with a drink from neighbouring Doodle Bar, followed by a stroll on the beach or a look at an exhibition in TESTBED1.

Street Kitchen at TESTBED1 closed when the warehouse site was marketed for sale to housing developers in 2015.
